Victorian Restaurants Unite

January 21, 2011 3 Comments

The recent devastation in QLD has left communities without schools, businesses, basic necessities, livestock, homes, clothes and VICTORIA help is needed to get them back on their feet.

In the Aussie spirit lets stick together and make that happen. HOW? MONEY!!! People across the country are raising money to help QLD rebuild. Victorian Restaurants Unite is one of those initiatives. Their aim is to raise money through the help of the Victorian restaurant industry. Restaurants across Victoria will host fundraising events on Australia Day 2011. Each participating restaurant will donate a percentage of its takings on Australia Day, January 26, to the flood-relief appeal.

One of these events is being organised by one of my favorite Melbourne based pastry chefs and friend Pierrick Boyer. When the floods occurred we where all so shocked. On the social networking sites everyone was talking about it, such loss and devastation. Before I had even heard of Victoria Restaurants Unite Pierrick had already expressed on Facebook a desire to organise an event to raise money for the victims… Talanted chef and a caring human being!

His contribution to the Victorian  Restaurants Unite is an Australia Day BBQ hosted by Philhellene Greek Restaurant with deserts created by Pierrick. ALL proceedings going to the flood-relief appeal. Legendary effort guys!!! So get along and support Pierrick and fellow organisers, Phillip Vakas, Dan Aulsebrook, John Rerakis to make this event an immense success.

Good luck guys! I hope the day is a GREAT success!!!! Save some desert for me :)

If you can’t get to one of these events don’t forget you can still donate money to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal. Just follow the link —>>> http://www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html

Buon Apetitto!
