Cakes Cakes and MORE CAKES

September 3, 2013 1 Comment

When I first started my blog in 2010 my aim was to document and learn the regional cooking of where I am from in Italy, Rome and also to document recipes that I have grown up eating from the amazing cooks in my family. This blog has given me so much joy, and provided me with sanity when I needed it. It was a God send. I was often asked by readers if I enjoyed cooking or baking more.. I would always answer, ‘I love both’… and that is true but in these last few years my love of baking and creating amazing cakes has grown exponentially. I have taken myself off to classes, read, read and read, practiced, practiced and practiced, researched, researched and researched and now I am convinced I have a HUGE love and obsession for cake making and decorating. To quote one of my favourite fellow food bloggers Lorraine Elliott of Not Quite Nigella, ‘cakes belong in an art gallery’, says it all!. Its been a real privilege to learn about and experience the creative process of creating a cakes, it really is one of those things that is both challenging and rewarding. I love making cakes that look beautiful and impressive, using different mediums whether that be fondant, chocolate or other mediums. I also get a huge buzz out of creating a cake that just tastes WOW and I spend just as much time playing with cake recipes to get the taste just right as I do with the decoration side of things. In the last year I have been blessed that through word of mouth, social networking, this blog and family and friends I’ve had some steady work making cakes and this has been an AMAZING vote of confidence in my cakes. I feel blessed to be doing something I absolutely LOVE and ADORE.

Here is a collage of some of the cakes I have made in recent times.
