My unrequited love – Kitchen Aid.

August 5, 2010 1 Comment

“Clarity of mind means clarity of passion, too; this is why a great and clear mind loves ardently and sees distinctly what it loves” – Blaise Pascal

If I could write a letter to an unrequited love it would have to be to Kitchen Aid. Yes its not a person but a kitchen appliance. Do I hear you laugh? Well allow me to explain. For years I have wanted a Kitchen Aid mixer, but for some reason I have made many other acquisitions a priority. I always wondered if my love for Kitchen Aid was just another consumeristic desire rather than one of necessity and need. Well I have finally decided on the latter. Everything I cook is either by hand (which I am very proud of mind you) or if I really need help I use a little hand mixer, you know the one with the one whisk?

There are many times I nearly sent that little loyal hand mixer to god, pushing it to its every limit. Whisking so hard that the motor was buring against the plastic that I held around my hand and I wondered if I was about to witness my first hand mixer explosion and was going to end up on a Current Affair. There are many things that I am unable to make properly without a Kitchen Aid. So I am on a mission, a mission of love to own my very own.

Unfortunately, life is not as free with money as anyone of us would want, and $750 does not grown on trees (which i wish it did) so 1 of 3 things is going to happen;

[a] someone from Kitchen Aid thinks my blog is fabulous and wants to thank me for advertising their product on my site and sends me a lovely red one with a promise that I will take many photos of it in action, that will undoubtedly end up as more advertisement on my blog (call me) or

[b] Its my birthday in a few days (15th Aug) and whatever that lady from the book The Secret said is in fact true then one will magically manifest itself off my vision board (which I keep meaning to make up, whoops) and be sitting on my kitchen bench on the 15th August or

[c] I will have to save up all my little dollars (and birthday money) to buy one even if it takes me 100 years…but lets stay positive after all… you never know in life and I am hopeful.

They say you can never achieve anything without a goal, SO here is mine. I intend on somehow acquiring one for my birthday and making this very cake (below). I saw it in my absolutely favorite cooking magazine of all time (maybe they can send me a Kitchen Aid after this plug???) the magazine is Australian Gourmet Traveller. I fell in love with this cake the moment I saw it online and I waiting in anticipation until the magazine came out in stores so I could own my very own copy of the recipe of this beautiful cake. So without further adieu here it is.

Introducing the Brown sugar sponge cake with caramel pears.

It’s true, its not the most complicated cake I could make with a brand new Kitchen Aid but I have to brake it in slowly and quite frankly that cake just looks the business!

So this is my goal, to somehow materialise a Kitchen Aid Mixer before the 15th August and then make this beautiful cake to celebrate my 30 something birthday!

WISH ME LUCK LOYAL READERS!

What do you think???.. would love to hear from you!!!!!!!
