About Me

About me:

My name is Emanuela and  I live in Melbourne Australia. I migrated here from Italy, Rome in 1984 where I grew up in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. I spend most of my life within performing arts, mainly singing and acting which I absolutely love, but having made the decision to progress a career my performing arts took back stage. Now all grown up I am a stay at home mum who finds herself needing a creative and passionate outlet… in comes cooking.

Staying at home has given me the much needed inspiration to rediscover myself and my passions. My love of cooking and long family history and influence in Italian Lazio regional cooking and my need to be creative has led me to start this blog.

In the post “why the hell am I doing this?” I explain that ‘This blog for me is the start of exploring the idea of being able to learn, create and share through writing, cooking and photography (another passion of mine). I think of the cooking process a bit like a painting every time I cook… the pan is my canvases, the ingredients my paints (colours) and the wooden spoon my brush. Cliché? Maybe but this is how it rings true to me.’

My cuisine interests are vast but there is no denying that Roman rustic cooking has to be my favorite and you will see this in my blog. I also love to write about all kinds of regional Italian dishes. I have a strong passion to educate non Italians (and in some cases Italians – hehe) about real Italian regional cooking. This education is as much for myself as for anyone else who it interests.

My goals are now to keep developing recipes (of any cuisine background) to publish on my blog, and bringing my family cooking history to it as well. I enjoy discovering and exploring great chefs around the world by reviewing books or visiting their restaurants and writing about my thoughts and experience on them. Product reviews are also something I am passionate about because great ingredients are very important to a good dish.

If you are interested in having me review a book, restaurant or product please contact me on emanuela (at) foodiegoddess (.) com

I love hearing from all my readers so please leave comments to your favorite posts or just send me a note with suggestions or any questions… and book offers are always welcome – teehee! Had to through that in!
